๐ŸŒด Kerala Family Travel Diary: A Soulful Journey from Delhi to Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady & Alleppey

✈️ Day 1: Delhi to Kochi – Touchdown in God’s Own Country

We began our journey on 14th September with a flight from Delhi to Kochi. The moment we landed, the air felt different—lush, fragrant, and alive. Kochi welcomed us with swaying palms and a coastal breeze that whispered, “Relax, you’re in Kerala now.”

Though brief, our time in Kochi was a sensory teaser: glimpses of colonial architecture, the scent of spices in the air, and the anticipation of the road ahead.

๐ŸŒ„ Day 2–3: Munnar – Where Clouds Kiss the Tea Gardens

Stay: Club Mahindra Munnar Lake View Resort

From Kochi, we drove to Munnar—a journey that felt like entering a dream. Waterfalls gushed beside winding roads, and tea plantations stretched like green carpets over rolling hills.

At Club Mahindra Munnar, our lake-view room was a sanctuary. Over two days, we explored:

  • Tea Museum – A deep dive into Munnar’s colonial tea legacy

  • Echo Point & Kundala Lake – Nature’s acoustics and serene waters

  • Mattupetty Dam – A perfect picnic spot with boating options

  • Local Markets – Handmade chocolates, spices, and souvenirs

Evenings were spent sipping chai on the balcony, watching mist roll over the hills—a moment of peace we’ll never forget.

๐ŸŒฟ Day 4–5: Thekkady – Wild Encounters & Spice Trails

Stay: Club Mahindra Thekkady

Next stop: Thekkady. The drive from Munnar to Thekkady was a visual feast—dense forests, spice gardens, and roadside stalls selling fresh jackfruit chips.

Highlights of our stay:

  • Periyar Lake Boat Ride – We spotted elephants, deer, and exotic birds

  • Spice Plantation Tour – Cardamom, pepper, cinnamon—Kerala’s spice story

  • Cultural Evening – Kathakali and Kalaripayattu performances

Club Mahindra Thekkady offered cozy cottages nestled in greenery, and the food—authentic Kerala thalis—was a culinary journey in itself.

๐Ÿšค Day 6–7: Alleppey – Backwaters, Houseboats & Serenity

Stay: Club Mahindra Alleppey

Our final destination was Alleppey, the Venice of the East. The backwaters here are not just scenic—they’re spiritual. Life flows slowly, beautifully, and rhythmically.

We spent two days soaking in:

  • Houseboat Cruise – A floating villa experience through palm-lined canals

  • Alleppey Beach – Sunset walks and coconut water by the shore

  • Local Cuisine – Fish curry, appam, and banana fritters

Club Mahindra Alleppey gave us the perfect blend of luxury and local charm, with views that made us forget time.

๐Ÿ“ธ Reflections from the Road

Kerala taught us that travel isn’t just about places—it’s about people, flavors, rituals, and the quiet moments in between. Whether it was watching our kids marvel at elephants or sipping tea in silence, this trip was a reminder of what truly matters.
